    Re: USPS process

    USPS is the only shipping option that I feel compelled to add signature confirmation and insurance. That Kind of says it all.

    It's sad becuase I like the folks who work at the two offices I deal with, Verdugo City in particular, but whenever I visit any USPS post office these days I feel like they're all the walking dead. As venerable as it is the USPS is doomed unless they can find a way to truly compete with private shippers.

    Re: USPS process

    I can't find any cheaper way to send to Thailand than the USPS, their "First Class Mail Service" (International) allows up to 4 pounds, it also seems to skate past customs, so no customs fees (or VAT) attached. All I usually get is a 7 baht fee, which amounts to $0.21 .....so for now, I don't complain, though I did have that one package go missing, but that was inside of a USPS facility in GA, not here in Thailand.

    Re: USPS process

    You have to cut the USPS some slack, with the volume they do at the cost and their loss % of parcels is efficient. Walking into an office, yes, they are catatonic due to sheer repetition and have to block out all the BS that gets thrown at them daily. I've seen people complaining over the smallest stupid stuff. One day a "lady" was using quite colorful language because her package wasn't at the PO for pick up. She got the slip less than an hour ago and wanted it NOW! she was demanding the driver come back with it, wanted to see a supervisor and a refund on the "outrageous rip off fees she had to pay".

    I left, went to my car, grabbed my bracelets, went back in and offered her 2 choices. Leave or Stay as I slapped cuffs on counter. She left in a tirade that would embarrass a 2 year old screaming she's getting a lawyer.

    So yeah, they are automatons most of the time.

    Definitely, I'm sure it can be a repetitive job, and customer impatience abounds. It usually all works out in the end. It's just weird to me that even though my international packages originate from and end at the same place, they seem to take different routes every time, and seemingly not the most direct route. This latest one arrives in NY initially, it then goes to CT and NJ, then back to NY again, lol. Patience is a virtue they say.

    Re: USPS process

    "Curiouser and curiouser". From it's arrival in the US it has now stopped at a 5th town which none of my previous shipments have ever stopped at.

    New York NY-->Stamford CT-->Jersey City NJ-->Jamaica NY-->Queens NY-->Newburgh NY.

    It's about 175 miles from NY,NY to my town. It's already gone 215 miles over three days. Still 100 miles to go and at least 2 stops. Maybe it's in a weird package and they're showing it around to all their friends.

    Re: USPS process

    That's what I implied when my GD-350 and Under Armour Polo went missing in GA, I still think that is the case. They stated they "Disposed" of my package, because it couldn't be sent to recipient or sender....yet I tracked it to them, and they obviously knew what PO it came from, but whatever....I just don't have much trust in the USPS, but UPS (my preferred delivery option) isn't cheap to Thailand.

    USPS did that to me yesterday.
    They marked the status of my package as "Notice Left (No Authorized Recipient Available)" even though I was in the house all day.
    I went there this morning to get it, and they said it's already on the delivery vehicle.
