Just looking to see what other types of bands you guys use besides the standard resin or composite band. Nylon, rubber, etc.? and how do they hold up?
I'm wondering what the DW-5000 would look like on a nylon band. The old Casio Mil-Shock was on a Nylon band, but I don't see any more of them around.

A short Tutorial on „How to use and calibrate a Casio Altimeter“:
1. Attach a string to your Casio AB(C) watch (feel free to use any length)
2. Abseil the watch into an Abyss until you hold the string’s end between your fingers
3. Get the watch up again
4. Use a measuring tape to measure the string length
5. Success! Now you have carefully calibrated the Altimeter
6. Important!!! The Altimeter Lock will stay enabled, unless you shorten or lengthen the string

The extra-soft band on the GW-5000 is by far the most comfortable I've ever used on a G-Shock (not entirely sure if the material is rubber of just very soft resin). ...Leather is a very close second though.

Sorry for not replying earlier but I have just seen your post, as I have been down in London for the last three days on business.
The strap on the watch is the original leather one and I reckon it is now impossible to get as it is unique to the 'Clapton' version of this model. I posted about this strap here.

Trying to find a leather band sutable for G shocks is difficult as you have probably found out. Casio have designed most Gs with 16 mm lugs. Now most generic 16 mm straps are going to look far too puny on a big G shock.
Casio get round this by having the end fixing at 16 mm but which immediately opens out to 26 mm as in the straps above. The other strap I found at Tiktox.
Unfortunately it was the only one he had, so now he has none!
