    Acceptable Accuracy?

    Hello All-

I'm new to the forum (although I've been lurking for some time), new to Glycine and new to automatic watches. I've had my Base 22 for a couple of weeks, and have noticed that my watch gains several seconds per day when compared with the time.gov site. Last night, it gained about 25 seconds in 12 hours. I understand that autos won't keep time like a quartz, but what are generally acceptable limits on time gain/loss?

    Thanks-

    Re: Acceptable Accuracy?

For that particular ETA movement you should easily be able to get it to +5 seconds a day (and maybe better) and I would be personally happy with up to 15 seconds. Given yours is running at +50 seconds a day there might be a possibility that the watch has become magnetised slightly or the hair spring coils are sticking together for some other reason. These things happen with mechanical watches and it is easy to fix. I suggest you contact your dealer and inform him of the unacceptable gain.
