1500 posts and one year in….. Winner Announced!

    My fellow WIS,

A year ago tomorrow I discovered the wonderful forum that is WatchUSeek, and with that began a journey which I will continue for as long as I can strap on a watch. When I began, my collection contained 6 pieces: two Invictas, a Torgoen Pilot, two G-Shocks and the Momentum M1 that my first post was about.

Since then, the Torgoen, AWG100, and Invicta Pro diver have been sold, and replaced multiple times over, for a grand total of I believe 17 in and out, and 10 in to stay.

Ive seen some truly great pieces stay for a short time my box, and from the Hamilton Frogman, to the Ecozilla, to the Binnacle Anchor they have all helped me figure out what I really like in a watch. In the past three months I have done a minor sell off and bought the two watches I would call “attainable grails,” the Bathys and the TSAR (which will be here tomorrow). Those two, along with my Invicta, my BM6400, my SNK809, my Deep Blue, my M1 and my SKX007 are my keepers, and I can thank the forum for introducing all but two of them to me.

More important than the watches though, have been my interactions with fellow members around here. Off the top of my head, Griff (zippofan), Olly (whatmeworry), Ross (foxglove), Toby (jason recliner), Milton (mendo08), Ramon (rm07pr) and of course Ernie Rommers have all been instrumental in my enjoyment of the site. Without all of you, this site wouldn’t be nearly as much fun as it has been for me, and I really want to thank you.

And now, on to the giveaway. I bought this MM homage from a well known seller back in November (I think), but in the past few months haven’t worn it at all, so its off to a WIS who will give it the wrist time it deserves.

It hacks, handwinds, is extremely accurate (like 2s per day on the wrist) and best of all has a GMT function. It is my small way of saying thank you to the forum, and I will randomly select a winner from the replies to this thread, one week from this moment.

Thank you to all WUS members for the time here, and I hope that the next year will be just as fun!

    Mike

    AND THE WINNER IS!!!!!

Nice story, and nice iPad case. I have a book style case from Pad & Quill myself.

I too will be "celebrating" my 1 year anniversary of WUS membership, only with about half the posts

I couldn't agree with you more about the importance of the relationships fostered here, and share some of the same folks you mentioned (particularly those that hang in the affordables)

I don't want to win, Mike. WUS has already been generous enough for me. I just wanted to wish you many more years and posts. Good folks like you make this place work. Nice gesture of giving back. Thinking of doing the same with a DW-5600C over on the Casio side of things here once I tidy it up to spec, because, frankly, it was given to me. Pay it forward, eh?

1500 in a year? Wow, that's dedication. I just turned 300 in who knows how long, but then I'm mostly just looking around.

My one year passed at some point last month. I think of my collection then and my collection now...so different. My perceptions then and now....let's just say I refused to ever buy another Seiko since two of my old ones are junk; now I've had two JDM Seiko divers, and my Sumo is definitely going nowhere. I know so much more now than I did a year ago; more than I ever could doing the research independently. I like to think I've helped others as well. Hat's off to your anniversary, Mike. And congrats on the TSAR. My JSAR's been a brilliant companion, even when covered in GSR and the like.

A man's watch is a very cherished thing. You steal that, you might as well be stealing his soul.

Congrats on your 1 year! I just passed my 1 year mark a few months ago & I don't even have a 10th of your post count... But this place sure consumes most of my evening & weekend free time - IT'S A DISEASE!!!
