"Amelia" Earhart Movie - Longine's Quartz Watch?

"Amelia" Earhart Movie - Longine Watch?

Just came back from watching the movie "Amelia". Not sure of the brand she is wearing but it looks like a Longine's Weems or Hour Angle. In any case I believe it was a quartz watch. You get to see it a couple of times and the center seconds hand moves like a quartz watch. Since the movie is set in 1937, it would be a prop mistake if it were quartz.

    Anyone else notice?

Fits with the shallow telling of the Amelia Earhart story in that movie.

If they couldn't be bothered to really develop the story and the character why would they bother with technical accuracy?

Believe it or not, the general public tends to forget how old technology works rather quickly.

How many movies set prior to the transitor age, have radios come of instantly, instead of waiting for the tubes to warm up? (TVs also)

Or typewritten documents with variable spacing and in new courier, especially Government documents, which were usually in "Pica".

    There are many others...

Those misstakes are a joy to spot.
i belive one of the earlist ones was an actor in Ben Hur that sported a Wristwatch.

Being an ex soldier, i just love to point out stuff to my family in War movies. They do not love it, but I do it anyway.

I'm afraid they DID fully develop the character and the story. To have done more would have made it a work of fiction.

On the other hand . . . I can wear another watch!
