Thanks for sharing. I've always admired Stowa. The 24 hour countdown for a LeMans type 24 hour race is interesting. I like the regular GMT version with red hands. Might have to check that one out a bit regarding specs. ...OK...Specs are below. Maybe too large for me, but otherwise nice specs in titanium. Diameter: 45/46 mm
(46 mm in diameter, the segments are available for better grip on the crown, but they are optically recorded barely) Height: 15.5 mm Strap width: 24/20 mm Lug-to-Lug size: 54.50 mm Waterproof: up to 20 ATM Weight: 125 grams with leather strap
Materiality Case: Titanium bezel: Titanium, base cage with inserted convex aluminum inlay, black anodized, engraved, 24 hours countdown function, turnable in both directions, bezel constructed undetachable Dial: black matt coated with Superluminova BGW9 (white)
Stowa Logo and Countdown printed white, 24 Racing colored Crystals: Front Sapphire crystal domed and sapphire display case back, both sides A/R coating Hands: minute and hour hand Superluminova BGW9 (white) Strap: Leather strap or rubber strap with screwed pins Crown: Titanium with STOWA Logo
Movement Caliber: ETA A07.171 Mechanism: automatic Half vibrations: 28.000 A/H Function: hour, minutes and central second complication Power Reserve: 46 hours Number of jewels: 24 synthetic rubies Finish: Geneve Stripes finish, blued screws, rhodium plated golden STOWA engraving
I love this new model from Stowa (along with its other variants), but I simply have to have a date. I don't really understand a watch made in 2013 that doesn't at least have the option- even if many would pick the cleaner dial. I get it on historic homage pieces, but even Stowa's flieger and Longines Legend have the option for a date window. I have enough trouble with a 4 on, 4 off schedule keeping track of the day of the week....
This new model is based on Stowa's TESTAF watch. I believe dates are strictly forbidden on a TESTAF watch.
I think Jorg originally made them just for the race team Stowa sponsors, but there was enough positive feedback that it has been released to the public.
If one buys the countdown version it automatically comes with the GMT bezel, but if one buys the GMT it does not include the countdown bezel.
I personally think it's great looking but it is way too big for me.
