    FeDex is KILLING ME!

I am getting my IWC Portugese Chrono being delivered by Fedex. I paid extra for "Priority Nextday delivery by 10:30AM".

    Sigh..

#1 mistake I made - Do NOT request redirect until you see "out for delivery" on the tracking.

I wasn't going to be home so I requested the re-direct of the package to Kinkos location 3 blocks from my house. BIG mistake, this automatically triggered something on their system to knock it off from being next day delivery to 2 day delivery. I did not realize it until I noticed that the package was still at Indiana at 9AM in the morning.

However, by noon, the package came to about 10 miles from my house so I just assumed that it will be waiting for me on my way home from work, no harm done. WRONG!

2PM came about and noticed that my package has not left the final distribution center, I call Fedex, ask them "Should I just go down to the location to pick it up?" Answer: " No sir, it may already be on the way by the time you get down there, it will be delivered, no issues". So, I stayed put, 4PM came and it still has not left the distribution center, so I call again, "What is going on?" They tell me, "Don't worry, it will be on the way" . 6PM came, and I stop by at the Kinkos, the guy there tell me "There is no way it will get here today, maybe tomorrow around 10AM" I got irritated. I come home, call up Fedex, they confirm that the package will be delivered next day.

Come 10AM next morning, I call Fedex, and they tell me "It is in the truck headed out to the drop off location". I stop by Kinkos at noon, hoping, but nothing. However, the guy tell me something disturbing "Express truck has already gone by here, nothing for you though". Hmmmm...

I get to work at 12:10, then bam! I get an e-mail from Fedex "Delivery exception, the customer signature required, nobody at the delivery address". I am floored! It was suppose to be delivered to Kinkos location, there wasn't anyone at Kinkos?

I call Fedex, and they tell me, "Sorry, don't know why the delivery attempt was made to the residence, the driver got the instruction to deliver to Kinkos location" (this was on their system for 2 days) Now, the estimated delivery date is pushed out to MONDAY!

I paid almost $100 to get overnight delivery and now it may take 5 days. Ugh.

Sorry, I am sure nobody wants to hear me complaining about nothing, but I needed to vent and also to warn others be careful with their delivery re-directs. I had good luck with it when the status was "out for delivery", but do NOT do it if it is still far away from you since it will knock out the priority delivery status with Fedex.

BTW, here is the pic from previous owner (hope he does not mind):

Did you hear that FedEx and UPS are merging? The conglomerate will now be called FED UP.

Based on my extensive experience with both FEDEX and UPS I would say that I prefer UPS. They are much more reliable and also seem to work later hours. FEDEX is at best "spotty" in their reliability and seem to return to their warehouse/shop by around 5 pm. For my money it is UPS.

I've used both maybe 100+ times each, and I since last year I have stopped using UPS for outgoing packages. Reliability as far as being on timely delivery it's about equal. But reliability for carefully handling packages......UPS for me is way too risky for something that can be damaged. I've seen video taken inside one of their facilities that would make anyone cringe. I've personally seen some very ugly stuff that UPS does to packages.

    Congrats, thats a beautiful watch!

I feel your pain. Patience is not a WIS virtue.
Even more frustration is the stupidity glitches such as stated.

Here is another reason I don't like to use HDS. LOL.

    Re: FeDex is KILLING ME!

If I have the option, I usually have UPS ship TO me, but I will ship OUT via FedEx. UPS is less expensive and just as quick, but when I ship out, FedEx is much more convenient for me with a distribution center/shipping counter only a few miles away and I have an account. That being said, I have been screwed by FedEx(usually ground) coming to me, many times. If you think having your watch delayed fires you up, try having them leave your Betacam that was shipped back from repairs sitting on your front steps while you are out of town with no one home(about 8-10 years ago)(I'm a freelance television cameraman and most of our cameras cost more than cars), then a few years later when I bought a new camera and received part of the shipment, but not the camera. FedEx tried the ole "Are you SURE they shipped all of it with us? We only show one box being picked up." I had the tracking numbers and had already tracked it arriving at a FedEx Facility, but they "couldn't find it". After ANOTHER day of it being MIA, I informed them of the cameras value they found it in less than 30 minutes. And to add insult to injury, they didn't even offer to refund the shipping or ship it out to me priority overnight after their huge screw-up, it was still another two days before I received it. Grand total: about a week late.
