Hamilton Watches... Better in real life than pics!

Interestingly, 100% of the time (for me anyway), Hamilton watches have always surprised me by how good they look in real life compared to their photographs.

It's like the brand, in general, consistently does not photograph well, but in the flesh, they are beautiful watches with great fit and finish...

    Hmmm.

Any other brands out there like this?

I agree, ball watches are also very nice looking in the flesh. I always felt a rolex looks better in pics then in real life. Maybe all the fakes have desensitized me.

I think part of it is the way they supply the photos which in some cases may be renderings which overstate some design features.

For example, the Jazzmaster Auto Chrono stock photos show a very distinct silver/gray area in the center of the dial when in person its very subtle and almost invisible as you can see in the photo comparison below. Most of the photos taken by owners seem to make the watch look much better than Hamilton's own photos.

On another note, in a lot of cases the watches displayed in TAG Heuer ads look way better in print than they do in real life.

it's not easy to do a watch justice photographically, sometimes. This 1948 Hamilton movement is gorgeous in person and impressed my watchmaker who thought it better than many, but it doesn't show all that well.

Sometimes pictures don't do justice. Seeing up front and close is believing...

yeah when I first saw the photos for the hamilton ventura automatic with the open faced brown dial i though it looked awful but once I saw it in person I loved it and ended up buying it. A few weeks back at a jewelry store a clerk who is a fellow WIS was blown away as well by how nice it looks in person and was convinced to go buy one as well.
