I like how the speedy looks on pictures but every time I had put it on my wrist, I just can't get myself over how thick the case back is.
A few months ago I was offered this Girard Perregaux for a very good price. I read about it and found it to be really interesting. The movement is tops quality and has one of the largest gem count I have ever seen. Its curved lugs and flat case back make it my most confortable watch. It really wraps around your wrist. You can find one used for around the same price as a speedy pro. It is different, vintage looking and has a lot of pedigree.

The Speedy Pro is a solid choice.

Well, the vintage Newman Daytona might be out of your price range (and for most of us as well), but how about a pre-owned stainless steel Daytona 16520 or 116520? They can be had for around $9k.

Don't be modest, you should show pics of the watch you had Stark Richdale design for you

it's currently being worked on - it's jammed so full of jewels the hands couldn't move

Thank you for the tip! I think I like the look of a vintage Newman Daytona mostly because of the elegant case, thin black bezel and panda dial.
So Daytona 16520 or 116520 looks just as a different watch for me, not saying the price is far above my saving capabilities, unfortunately :)

I just saw Omega Speedmaster 3510.21 and I think it is much closer.
Tudor 79260p is also pretty close aesthetics, but the data and crown guard is what I don't 100% like.

Sounds like a hell of a watch!

Be sure to fill up the dial with a few lines about how many jewels are in there :P

Can´t go wrong with Speedy pro, IMO it is "the" classic chrono of excellence.

    It's a good choice.

One of my close friends wears a Speedy Pro as his everyday watch. He has a Monster for the beach and a G-Shock for hiking and hunting, but otherwise, he's always got that Speedy on.

It pretty much works for most occasions, suit to shorts. Not my taste exactly, but it definitely fits just about anytime, anywhere.
