Addressing your actual post, Accutron does offer some of the movements you asked about for a decent price, and overall make a nice entry-mid level watch.

I agree with the above posts that it would be better to look at a higher quality brand for a better movement.

Well, if the OP specifically wants a top grade 2824, there's no guarantee that a COSC watch has it.

WIS Handbook, Chapter 1, Rules 1 and 2:
    1. Tag Heuer never wins a poll. Should a member feel the need to express the desire to own one, he or she may be subject to ridicule and be ostracized.
    2. Omega wins all polls. Should Omega not be mentioned as a selectable option, it is highly suggested that you still recommend the polling member purchase an Omega, preferably a Speedmaster with hesalite crystal to add extra character and a certain warmess to the dial.

Thought for the day: if watches and brands were people, how many of you would be racists?

I've read conflicting reports between it being top and elabore grade.

I'm not a Mido expert though.

Therein lies the rub. I've researched various watchmakers for the same answer and always came up empty handed. With failing to follow up with phone calls anyway.

It would appear that an Elabore grade 2824.2 can be adjusted to COSC specs as CitizenM inferred.

I have thought about finding an independent watchmaker/modder that would replace a lesser grade ETA movement for a Chronometre grade ETA 2892.2 in one of my favorite micro cases but I haven't followed through on that either. I don't yet know if a 2892.2 will fit in a case designed for a 2824.2. There may be issues I am unaware of. The objective would simply be to fit the highest grade movement ETA makes and have it adjusted in six positions for maximum performance.

It seems possible at least if a complete movement remains available from ETA these days.

What I would gain from such a modification is only a guess. Except having the satisfaction of knowing I have the best possible adjusted ETA movement in it. I care little for the finishing aspect of it as I have only one watch with a sapphire back and that's not a diver or other tool watch that I'm interested in modding.

    Apologies for hijacking the thread.

I beg to disagree. Ubiquity should not be conflated with inferiority... There's nothing mediocre about a top/chronometer grade ETA 2892 (or for that matter a 2824).

I am beginning to think it's a good idea for ETA movements to be more restricted, perhaps then they'd get the respect they deserve...

Do they issue Chronometer certificates for non chronometer grade 2824 movements if they perform within specs?

Also I would check out Stowa.

    Kind Regards,

Well, yes, if they send them for testing and pass, I'd presume they do. I don't think they would though because the cost of sending tons of movements off for a low success rate, then adjusting them to pass (or I guess putting them in lower models) would probably not be worth it. That's my best guess.

Wilson Watch works offers a Diver for $395 that has a Top Grade 2824-2 movement.

Pretty sweet watch for the price and you know it's been calibrated by a pro.
