    Louis Erard 1931 skeleton

    Hi everyone!

I guess this is my introductory post as well as my first question. Let me just say that it looks as though you have a great community here that I look forward to being a part of it in the future.

Ok, with that out of the way, I have a question regarding the Louis Erard brand. I did some searching and found some threads on here that say that they make some time pieces that are highly regarded yet are still flying well below the radar. Despite placing last in a regulator comparo with Sinn and another brand.

I am very interested in one of their watches, in particular their 1931 skeleton moonphase with black face.

I have seen a lot of skeletons before, but there is something about this one that appeals to me. It seems modern, classic, streamlined yet busy all at the same time.

Has anyone purchased this watch? If so, could you tell me of your experiences?

Also, is there anywhere in the US (I'm near NYC) where I could go and lay hands on one of these to see how they feel/look?

    Thanks in advance!

I've seen them in Switzerland and Asia but for some reason never in the UK or US. They seem like a great bang for the buck personally, they're one of the few in that price bracket that get classy+modern right most of the time.

    I had this one before:

It was very nice piece, though I can not tell you where to get one as I got one from sales corner.

In retrospect, should have kept it as I bought it for less than $500... Heck of a watch for that price..

Although it looks as though the hand color is such that it would be difficult to see, BUT in real life, it was not the case, though blued hand would have really MADE this watch.

Got more compliment out of this one than IWC, Rolex, Omega combined. :)
    Chronic flipper...

wow nice find, i've never heard of this brand before. looking at their website the collection is quiet impressive, and they have a 'distributors' tab that you could use to find something close to you. http://www.montres-louiserard.ch/index.php

im a huge Louis Erard fan, IMO its a great small brand that takes watchmaking very seriously. also their great prices & great quality make them a awesome brand!

im still waiting to find my perfect dress watch, but the only thing holding me back from this (below) is the smaller size of 40mm.

Thanks for all the comments guys!

Ivan- forgive me if this is a noob question, but you can change the hands on a watch? I am guessing it is an expensive, laborious process?

    Kiwi- thanks for the welcome!

Takman- thanks for the link, although it looks as though all of the distributors are in Switzerland. Maybe I will have to hunt around my area, I have GOTTA think that someone in the NY metro area has heard of this and might carry a few of these watches!
