I found a zeno day date that I like but noticed it has a hardened mineral crystal. Any advice on sapphire vs. mineral and how well will the mineral hold up?
Thanks

Both are scratch-resistant.Just that sapphire crystal is more so.In other words, there are less things that can scratch sapphire than mineral.
That said, mineral isn't bad.I have watches that has many scratches on my steel bezel n hardly any on its mineral glass. That was my 1st realisation just how resistant mineral glass can be![]()
With regards to scratch resistance...
Here is a graph comparing the two as well as other substances like titanium, etc...

In that graph, materials with hardness above mineral glass can scratch it. The same goes for sapphire.
The second issue is shatter resistance. With thickness being equal, mineral glass is more shatter resistant.
I read a while back in this forum that sapphire tend to shatter more so they either make it thicker or make it in a dome shape.

I don't buy watches that don't have sapphire crystal, to me mineral is a deal breaker. I am usually running around and often bump into things. Every watch I had with mineral crystal got marked up in a matter on months. The ones with sapphire crystal look like new, well the crystal does, the watch has dings though![]()
I have one mineral crystal with scratches on it.. some deep. None of my sapphires have a single scratch.

Lots of hits if you do a search on Sapphire vs. Mineral
My personal preference is for Sapphire. I feel it always looks clearer and better. Have scratched eevry mineral crystal watch i've ever owned, but then again, they were mostly 'beaters' that were treated accordingly...
