One would hope this is always the case. I've seen enough expensive watches over the years to know that it isn't.

$1,500.00? Buy 10 Timex watches and you'll have enough to last for the rest of your life.

Too many watches, only two wrists and never enough time...

In terms of resistance nothing can come close to a G Shock for the money. If anyone is not convinced, look at this thread:

The Uzi Ballistic model has a couple of videos where someone uses it as a hockey puck and it survives and another video showing it getting stomped on, driven over, and hit with a hammer and it survived. Guess that would be a tough watch.

Oris 300m Titan. Titanium, sapphire, 300m water resistant diver with refined/polished surfaces and a unique design, giving it both a classy and sporty/casual look.

Awesome post - thanks for the link mate! As cool as the torture test is, I especially like the pics of the bad mofo mil divers with their Gs.

    G-Shock: it's Japanese for "awesomeness".

What is the most heavy-duty/robust auto watch on the market?

    Hi all,
First of all, my budjet will be approx` 3.5-4 thousand USD (purchase will be made in USA).

I am currently saving money in order to buy an omega PO (non chrono).
What got me on this watch is first of all, its looks, and the fact that you can use it in fancy-shmancy events, as well as in a sports activity (rubber straped).

However, i have been reading more and more about issues regarding the co-axial movement, and this puts me off.

I would like to know is, what other brands make watches to fit my demands?
(i.e robust, within my budget, "versatile" look, non-chrono)

    :thanks in advance

I would look at the Ball line, and in particular the engineer hydrocarbon series. Another recommendation is the Sinn brand, like the U-1, or U-2.

    Rolex!

The owner will be so protective over the watch such that it "becomes heavy-duty/robust".

    Simplicity, an encapsulation of complexity.

I own Omegas, IWC, and numerous boutique brand watches from O7 to MKII. I can honestly say that the beating that my $150 Seiko auto diver takes I would never dish out to my other watches. For the last 5 years it has spent every summer weekend in the surf and sand in Ocean City Md, it has been skiing and rock climbing where it has taken numerous jarrings and impacts. It still runs abojut 8 sec/day fast and the crystal has some scratches but it just keeps ticking away.
