I'd go with Seiko, even though I despise their brand management.

I'd say Orient ... they can easily sell for atleast double their price, perhaps even more. But, HMT takes the cake. You can get a HMT with a Miyota mechanical movement for about $15. Now, that's value for money!!

Re: The most underpriced watch is...

I disagree about Seiko. I think they are priced well - you get what you pay for - whether it's an SKX, Seiko 5, Ananta, or Grand Seiko Spring Drive. But I wouldn't say they're bargains, either. Which is what underpriced means to me. You're getting more than you should for what you spend. With respect to Seiko, a non-hacking, non-handwinding rugged auto movement shouldn't cost more than an SKX. Similarly, a ground breaking, cutting edge, hyper accurate movement probably should be priced around what you'd pay for a Spring Drive (though I wish it were less).

I really dont' know what I'd consider to be an underpriced watch - especially since all watches, by definition, are luxury goods, and the concept of 'under-priced' luxury goods seems to a bit at odds with itself. I personally think you get a lot of watch for the money from Hamilton. And from what I've heard Orient gives great bang for the buck. Those two would get my vote.
Watches: Rolex Air King 114200; DOXA 1000T Project Aware (75/92); Hamilton Khaki Automatic; Seiko SKX013K1 Diver's 200M; Shearwater Research Predator; Suunto M5; Tissot PRS200; Generic Swiss Military; Jorg Gray 6500 "Obama Watch"

"Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much... the wheel, New York, wars, and so on, whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely the dolphins believed themselves to be more intelligent than man for precisely the same reasons."

HMT is an Indian company which is heavily subsidized by the government. Hence you can get a watch with Miyota guts for about $15 ... I think that kind of value would be hard to beat.

They got a license from Citizen in the '60s to produce Miyota movements (handwind and automatic). Cheap watches and not the best quality, but extremely rugged.

    This one is kinda cool:

And this is an interesting idea:

But most of them are rather boring designs. And their website is almost unusable. Too bad. No prices either. Interesting to know though.
