New to Forum and Watches

I am new to the forum scene and also just starting to learn about watches. Could anyone tell me what some of the top brands are? I have seen brands like Omega, TAG and Rolex. I have also read in magazines about brands like Linde Werdelin, Oris, Armin Strom etc. I was wondering what the differences were. Any help would be appreciated.

Firstly there are thousands of watch brands out there and there is no 'top brand'. People may think that Rolex is a top brand but it doesn't hold a candle to say Patek Philippe.

Omega is often seen as a brand that is an entry point into luxury watches with Rolex a little higher and brands like Patek Philippe, A. Lange & Sohne and Richard Mille towards the top.

The main differences generally tend to be related to the quality and complexity of the movement and the watch's overall construction.
The brand name and the prestige it gives can also play a factor.
