    Non-boutique watch browsing in NYC

    Hi there,

I am heading to NYC for two weeks and wonder if anyone has recommendations about stores with watches that aren't boutiques, Tourneau, or other high-end jewelers. I would like to see some models that I normally can't see in "real life" (i.e., not the internet), and preferably of an affordable variety (less than $1000). I did a search here, but would like some more suggestions if possible. Thanks!

Can't help you there but bump for a local guy! Where are you in CVille?
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, you'll be a mile from them, and you'll have their shoes.

Hell of a collection for a student!

I'm off of Rio, in Greenbrier. We should hook up so I can stare at your watch box =).

I don't understand why you're ruling out Torneau... There's no other store that will give you the viewing variety that they offer. Especially in the price range you seem interested in.
Montblanc Twinfly Flyback Chronograph - Bremont Alt1-Z/DG - Ebel 1911 BTR GMT - Ball Engineer Master II Diver World Time - Breitling SuperOcean 44
Oris Artelier Pointer Day - Oris XXL Pointer Day - Dievas Focal - Hamilton Jazzmaster Maestro (Silver, Nodate) - Orient Black Ray - Bulova Marine Star - Seiko SSC081 Solar Chrono

No more watches for a while...

Funny, that's exactly what I thought when I read that. Heck, I didn't even get my Seiko SARB035 until after I had tenure. I've been trying to make up for lost time since... :)

Sorry for ignoring my own post. Just got to NYC. Can't wait to check out all the suggested stops.

And on my collection...most were gifts. I inherited my watch-obsession from Dad. You should see HIS collection (one of the reasons he's still working in his late-60s...). I hope to inherent something nice when I finally get my PhD.
