Phantom Ticks

Maybe I'm crazy, but has this happened to you? Online, looking at photos of watches, I start to see them move. My first glance at the seconds hand and for a split second I see it ticking away. I will, of course, do a double take and then it stops. But for the shortest amount of time I believe it's moving.

Funny thing is, when I first started seeing this all the movement was in second ticks. Now, maybe because all I buy is automatic now, the movement is in the sweeping motion.

I hope this is not a sign that my hobby has gotten out of hand.

Yes. I 'noticed' this only today. I passed it off as the image rendering as the browser downloads the picture - sharpening the image thus giving the illusion of 'ticking'. No idea if this is how browsers work but it made sense to me...

You do not know how relieved I am to see that someone else sees what I see. Yup, the second hand moves. Usually for me, it's a "quartz" tick, not a sweep.
