    Rectangluar watch under $750

Need suggestions for a rectangular dress watch under $750 (Australian, can be increased to $800 if needed) with the following specs:
    - Black dial
    - Black leather band but stainless steal will be OK
    - Date complication
    - Automatic movement
    - Case thickness no more than 10mm
    - Small seconds at 6 but not a must
    - Preferably new but slightly used will be OK

I did find this Longines Evidenza but it is well out of my price range, something similar looking to this would be good:

If you really like the Evidenza I'm sure you could eventually score a used one for $800 or thereabouts.
    Here's an example:
Longines Evidenza for $.924 for sale from a Trusted Seller on Chrono24

On the same site I noticed a seller has listed a bunch of new Oris Miles in a similar price range. They are a nice rectangular watch and you might want to check them out. I think their retail price is around $1400 so they represent a reasonable buy at the advertised price.

Hamilton have a few options in your price range

Jazzmaster Auto Tonneau - 800AUD ish - on strap or bracelet (a replacement bracelet will cost you much more than a leather band though):

I'm on the phone so can't see easily at the moment. Google it!

Hamilton have plenty of well-priced square case watches though.

aren't those technically called tonneau cases?

WIS Handbook, Chapter 1, Rules 1 and 2:
    1. Tag Heuer never wins a poll. Should a member feel the need to express the desire to own one, he or she may be subject to ridicule and be ostracized.
    2. Omega wins all polls. Should Omega not be mentioned as a selectable option, it is highly suggested that you still recommend the polling member purchase an Omega, preferably a Speedmaster with hesalite crystal to add extra character and a certain warmess to the dial.

    Thought for the day:
how come all of the stories told on the forums always seem to show much better the story teller is than the other people in the story?

Hamilton is a great choice. They have quite a few square watches.

I really like the Kemmner tonneau. It has a cool 70s vibe, but subtly. And it's cheap. Gorgeous and a great value.
