What an absolute disgrace. Would be very happy to tell anyone selling these brands that they have lost my clientele.

Anytime we visit Ad's to look at watches the question of after sales support HAS to be brought to the forefront.

You know, the watch manufacturers follow this and other boards. How about WUS and like minded boards put a sticky at the top of each major brand forum with the title:

"BrandXYZ [supports / does not support] the work of independent watchmakers."

And in the body of the sticky explain the issues and why consumers should care. I think once the manufacturers understand that the WIS care about this issue, and that WIS are in fact their primary "brand ambassadors", the manufacturers may well start cleaning up their act.

So what difference does it make, whether it's 20 minutes or 20 years, since neither amounts to the faintest echo of the tiniest whisper in the thunder of time.

Wow, that's really upsetting. I wonder which of the Swiss brands partake in this act? Swatch group? Anyone know?

I don't like it but this is the future of the watch industry. Big brands want the revenue from servicing. As a customer it really grinds my gears they force you to replace the hands, dial etc, when that may not be what you want. I also feel really bad for all the genuine watch repair men and woman who will be out of job.

Thanks for posting this video. It's a real shame that some brands are pursuing this strategy, and they're only hurting themselves in the long run.
