    Seiko SARB035

    Hello,

I like very much this model, as it seems in the status of Rolex Explorer IMHO. What do you think? In which category would you put it? Dress, casual, both of them?

I can't say I agree with the Rolex statement but I love the looks of the SARB series. The only thing that holds me back is the thickness. All of them are 10mm or thicker and a lot are often 13mm.

I don't like categories like "dress" and "casual". It's all about attitude. Just look your best at all times and sort out the details when the moment comes along.

    Nice looking watch.
For a watch on the cheap in the category of the explorer, I would definitely go with a Bernhardt Binnacle Anchor.

It's a fine looking watch that is definitely in the classic Seiko style. Seiko has made quality watches like that for many decades. Take a look at the KS and GS watches from the 1960's.

The SARB035 is a lovely watch but the SARB017 (one of the Alpinist range) is much closer in feel to the Explorer IMO. Both skillfully blur the line between dress and sports watches and both are great watches.

Great tips.I am tempted by this model and Stowa Antea creme. Maybe this Seiko model is a mix of both worlds, casual and dress one. I have to decide...

I love my SARB035, classic good looks, true manufacture movement, looks good on bracelet or leather, incredible price for the quality you get, really there isn't a bad thing i can say about it. The only thing is that the size is a tad small on my somewhat large wrist, but i absolutely love it.

I think there absolutely is an Explorer vibe to the SARB, but with the definite Seiko sensibility. Simple, easy to read, and in its dial face size is very similar to the older Explorer I's. Obviously they're different watches, but I think that they share more than a little in common: both are absolutely easy to read, with a dress-up or dress-down ability that can go equally well with a pair of jeans or a suit.

I think that the SARB033 looks even more "Explorer-like" with it's black face:

I don't own a Rolex Explorer, but I've had a couple of homages including the Sandoz, and have a MkII Vantage, and I'd honestly say that the SARB's compare nicely with any of these.

I'm generally not into these styles, but I have considered a couple black dialed SARBs because they look fantastic. IMO some of them appear like a conservative hybrid pilot/explorer style
