Soprod A10.

I've heard that the new Stowa Marine auto is being equipped with a Soprod A10 movement. Do any of you have watches with this movement? I've heard that it is similar to the ETA 2892.A2 (price as well?), can anyone who's worked with this movement or owned a watch with this movement chime in on this?

I found a little bit of information on the movement in a couple of Ball related threads, but not much. Wonder if more companies will start using the A10 if Soprod sells them in ebauche form ... wonder if they do that, or sell the finished movement like ETA has begun doing.

I will post some A-10 related info on our Schauer & Stowa Forum later this day. Got a fact sheet from Soprod when visiting Baselworld. Need to get that f...... (sorry for that) DVD run on my computer.

My Robert Lighton Hudson uses a Soprod automatic movement based on the ETA2892. Don't know Soprod's number for this. Have not had the caseback off.
That being said, it's a wonderfully smooth movement. One of my best automatics.

These were unbelievable deals. Enameled dial and Sterling silver case.

A-10 is superb movement, based on few watchmakers reports, it's better then ETA2892A2. Price for basic movement (A-10) varies a lot depending on how many your willing to order, but it ain't a cheap movement. Soprod offers it with few different finishes and with open heart. And they have various modules for it, moonphase, big date, power reserve and few others.

I'll have the spec sheets somewhere but it's a bit dated one (from 2009) and they did few key changes to the A-10 during late 2009/early 2010.

Pretty much the best "generic" automatic movement there is, with generic I mean something pretty much any watch maker can purchase and not in-house work by independent makers :)
