Ugh! I hate you, Date at 4:00/4:30!!!

OK, just a short rant.. but why do makers have to make otherwise beautiful and symmetrical watches look so off kilter by adding a date window here. Take a case in point:

A nice watch, but it just seems needlessly skewed by the date there. Yes, i am anal retentive about symmetry, so maybe its just me. But plenty of other nice watches get it right, with the date either at the 3 or the 6, and they look just fine. MInd you, i am happy most watches have a date window; it can be rather handy... problem is, i do find that this off-axis date window has become a sticking point for me.. to the point i will pass on most watches with this "feature". Ah well, first world problems and all that.

There was a time when 12 and 6 were popular.

Date is a must and I don't mind that date placement.

Imo a 4:00 date looks juat as good from a symmetry perspective as a 3:00 date if it's inserted in place of the 4:00 marker. The citizen you picture in the op is not executed well, jutting out from the 4:00 marker.

    6:00 is the best imho:

Funny, but it doesn't bother me either-- and I'm kind of a stickler for symmetry.

The horror, the horror... A perfectly acceptable reissue of a classic compressor watch mangled by the date window. Frankly, if the date window was an imperative, anywhere else would have been better.

Doesn't bother me either, it's preferable to cutting off an hour marker.
