What Do you Say To People Who Use The Cell Phone Argument?

Not sure there is much to say. Especially to the guy carrying a 500 dollar phone when a 50 dollar prepaid also makes the same calls.....

People just value certain items differently.

I just let them know the truth - it mainly functions as jewellery/accessory for me. :P

I think then the same argument applies to mechanical vs quartz. If I only wanted to know the time, and didn't care about quality, artistry, history, complication, beauty, style or statement, then exactly right, I wouldn't spend thousands or even hundreds on a watch, I'd just get some $10 quartz or digital from Walgreens. But I do care about those things. The return question to the phone person is, why do you have a smart phone with an expensive contract when you could just make your phone calls from a $20 "Go-phone"?

There is no reason to argue...

$10 for the phone and $10 for an hour of airtime.....

I stalk them, wait until their phone is on a charger or out of battery, then I casually walk up to them and ask them what's the time .. . (j/k)

no use to argue, really ... everyone has their value,

but you could ask what happened if it ran out of battery ... and ask them if they'll be using the same phone 3 years down the road, because, y'know, you'll most likely be using the same watch 5,10 years down the road -

or if you have one of those see through caseback where you can see the movement, you might want to show that, too

Re: What Do you Say To People Who Use The Cell Phone Argument?

I resisted the cell phone thing as long as I could, and when I wasn't wearing a watch nor carrying a cell phone, I'd just get the time from ATM's with a quick balance inquiry. There's a reason pocket watches evolved to become wrist watches. I don't want to revert to carrying a pocket watch, this isn't 1891 and I'm not riding a "safety bicycle."

I tell them nothing. Just because they are ignorant enough to make a blatent comment about a personal decision of mine that does not affect them in the slightest does not mean that I need to respond in kind. If the only way they can feel good about themselves is by pointing what what they see as foibles in others and wallow in thier own crapulence, good luck to them.

But what do 2 rights make? The first airplane. Oh wait... that only works verbally...
