I have a Tissot Visodate with an ETA 2836-2 (non-chronometer) automatic movement. The watch is several years old, never been serviced. It is running about 25 seconds fast per 24 hours. Is this performance in spec? Its not really concerning to me, I am just curious. It seems to be stable...not getting any worse over the past month or two, and it is pretty consistent day in and day out. I am wearing the watch during the day. It rests flat at night.
That is out of spec for any grade ETA movement. It possibly requires adjustment or servicing, but there's another possibility that is quicker and cheaper than having a watchmaker open the watch. Demagetizers are found at very reasonable prices on ebay. If a magnetic field is the issue, it's easy to diagnose.
The chart therein is one we copy here with some frequency. And you can see why ChuckW made the 'any grade' comment...as a Top grade 2824 is actually quite a good movement.
If I am reading the chart correctly, "in-spec" for a standard grade 2824/2836 is +/- 12 seconds per day?
Still not planning to do much about it. I can live with +25 seconds per day. I bought the watch used relatively cheaply, probably considerably less than a service. This satisfies my curiosity though
