Would U wanna seriously STUDY HOROLOGY if...?

... If you NEVER again have to worry about money (not about having millions, all your current needs are met comfortably, and then some)... AND... you need work only 6 months a year.

It's a hypothetical situ, so don't fall off the wagon talking about how much things cost, OK? Please?

So, let's say, you can spend 6 months a year to do as you please.
Would you want to study the ins and outs of horology seriously - whatever aspect thereof: making, designing, repairing, marketing, etc.

I myself would like to "go to school," and learn at least the fundamentals from the ground up, and get some serious shop time -- solely to satisfy my own curiosity, and to acquire the ability to tinker at will with almost any watch.
Might even consider going into design & manufacturing if I find some cool people to work with.

    Go to school, basically.
Hell yes I would. In fact - I'm going to buy a cheap set of tools and a cheap mechanical right now - thanks for reminding me.

I doubt it. I wouldn't mind knowing a little more and definitely having more contacts/ access but I don't know if I'd want to ruin it with all the details. There are other businesses/ projects that I'd want to work on before horology if I had the time/ money.

Yes, but partially because I'm already married. You'd be surprised how many people think horology starts with a "W" instead of "H", thereby garnering the undue respect of frat boys and ire of women... Much like my friend Joey the prosthetist

My needs exponentially increase as more and more of my needs are met! And if enough of my needs are met, I am laying in the desert in Palm Springs, sipping an Appletini, and smoking a joint that I just pluck from to two pot plants growing in the back yard next to the Infiniti Pool and Hot Tub wearing sun glasses while the young muscular pool boy that looks like Chris Hemsworth .... oh never mind!

So what difference does it make, whether it's 20 minutes or 20 years, since neither amounts to the faintest echo of the tiniest whisper in the thunder of time.

Hmmm...as tempting as it is, I'm afraid I might get bored of it and watches altogether if I treat it as a career. So far, the only job that doesn't bore me is tutoring/teaching.

I know teacher's salaries suck in the USA, but in NSW, it's $AU56K start and you only have to work 40 weeks a year.

I would spend all of my time working on my game to qualify for the US open. Bunker play, pitching from buried lies, shot trajectory, and putting on a ceramic surface should give me a shot.
just a guy who loves his family!
