18/1975: Omega Speedmaster professional Soyuz 35th anniversary special

    Hi all,

i'm trying to get some information. i'm planning to sell this watch (http://www.omegawatches.com/gents/sp...31130423099001)

onto the market. this watch's unique number 18/1975. The price paid for the watch is 5,430.539 pounds (8,616.46). whereas the price that is being resold for is 5,6812 pounds (9100 USD).

Is this price too low or too high?

Both of my local AD's have this in the window for £5100 list, and I'm sure they'd give some discount.

I wouldn't buy yours at that price.

Why are you flipping it so quickly for such a profit?

thing is, the number is extremely important in asian culture. the watches number is number "18" out of 1975.

Well, you asked the forum if we thought your asking price was too high.

I personally don't understand why anyone would buy it from you *used* when they can go to their AD and get another (and new!) for $1000 less.

Well sir, I think you're going to have to let the market decide how cheap or expensive your price is...and, how significant the number 18 is.

Put it up for sale on Yahoo Japan if the numbering sequence is important in Asia...

Here in America, probably not so much and you'll sell it for the going used market price.

how much less would the used market price be for this particular watch be if i'm planning to sell it within the next two years? would you say it'll be more or less than 5%?

also, how "special" is this watch? it's made from parts of a fallen asteroid, it's commemorating the 35th anniversary, i think it's comparable to the Rolex Daytona (but 'cause of the number it's even more special).

    cheuba.

Do some reading on the forum, join in the spirit of the forum, chat about watches, then maybe in a couple of months you can start asking about selling your watch.

You may have noticed the reception has been a little frosty here - that's because you're a new poster who no-one knows and who's first post tells us how you wish to sell on a brand new watch for a profit.

How well did you think it'd go down?

A lot of us here buy and sell, but generally speaking there is never any intention to make significant fiscal benefit from the transactions and it certainly wouldnt be "advertised".

As others have said, the market will set the price, and in the UK I'm guessing it'd be a few hundred above £4k for a used (like new) condition piece. That said, none have been on SC yet (AFAIK), but why pay more when I could walk into my local AD right now and buy it for £5100 list, or more likely £4500 with discount.
