Advice on sending a PO to Bienne Service Centre

    Hi,

I am about to send my watch in for repair, would you send it in its original leather box with all the papers and warranty or use a generic but well protecting box, wih a copy of the warranty in? I am concerned the box/contents may be damages or misplaced.
    Thank you.

Send only the watch, none of its original packaging. The Service Centers will instruct you as such. I wrapped mine in bubble wrap and used a mailer, no box at all. Good luck!

Thanks Kat. I will do it that way. BTW I got an email from them and they didn't advise on this specific issue.
    Cheers.

Your welcome. Include a copy of the warranty card, all your contact info, ofcourse, and instructions as to what you want done. Then try not to experience too much separation anxiety.

Where are you located? No need to send the watch all the way to Bienne. . .

I agree. NJ did a fine job on a PO service for me.

Hello, I hail from the UK. There is a service centre here suggested by Omega but somehow I feel better to send it to Bienne, maybe I am mistaken :)

I have not herd anything bad about the UK service center (or maybe I missed it from other forums?). You should have no issue sending it in there, they are Omega trained watch makers and specialize in that. Sending it to Bienne is cool too, but they have a long line of watches to service so you will most likely experience an insane wait time. Have herd stories of watches taking several months for stuff that could easily have been done in a few weeks (3 - 4 or a bit more, maybe). As is the case for any brand, sending the watch to HQ could possibly take a longer time. Best of luck to you though

Re: Advice on sending a PO to Bienne Service Centre

    Now tell me this,

Lately I sent my Omega to local AD, and they shipped it to Omega maintenance price evaluation. I told them not to change dial, hands and bezel, since its vintage 105.012 Speedy. Today I received a phonecall from the AD, and she told that Omega in Bienne only restores completely the watch. So it would NOT be possible to leave hands, dials and bezel as the old ones.

I find this ridicilous and strange, any thoughts on this ?

It is silly but this is the case with other brands too, like Rolex and many others when it comes to vintage watches with Tritium and stuff like that. Either the dial had patina, flaking tritium that could get into the movement and ruin it, or just like normal is no longer glowing so needed to be replaced by a new, SuperLuminova dial.

I've herd that with Rolex you can refuse to have this done, but they will not service the watch if you do (they just return it to you). Not sure of the procedure in Bienne at Omega for this service / restoration. See if they can abort, send it back to you un serviced and take to a competant, reputable independant watch maker locally who can service it, as is and do as you wish without the need for all the policy stuff. If it is too late, that would be a shame but atleast you know for next time (looking at the bright side). Best of luck to you with this
