    Hello from a newbie!

Hi to all out there. I am now the very proud owner of a 2598.80 seamaster pro chrono. I have just recently bought it from a dealer in England and as it is a used watch i did not expect it to be perfect but i do have a couple of concerns and would like your thoughts.I am in Scotland so i unfortunatley was not able to view it before buying it. I paid £900. Firstly, it was sold to me as this description.
    Omega Seamaster Automatic Chronograph
This is New old stock, it comes with box, paperwork and original warranty card.
The Watch measures 43 mm not including the crown, it is a very nice time-piece with a clean chronometer movement which is running well.
The dial and the glass are very clean and the case is free from evident marks.
The bracelet comes with all its links.

    Re: Hello from a newbie!

Sorry i deleted the rest!! Let me continue.
The face of the watch appears to have a few bits of dirt under the glass and the large hands of the face appear to be greasy as the if someone has touched them with their fingers. This all leads me to think that the glass has been off at some point? the large second hand of the stopwatch is also almost exactly one second to the right of noon even after i have reset it! Is this acceptable? I have now noticed that it is somewhat difficult to adjust the date function. When i pull the crown out to the 2nd position it only advances the date on about the fourth or fifth try? Have i got a lemon? Eveything else looks good but there is no id numbers on the back of the watch but there are on the bracelet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Andrew and welcome aboard. In order for the guys who know answers around here to really help perhaps you could post some pictures and answer a few questions.

Is the watch still within warranty according to the warranty card?

Does the serial number on the watch (underside of one of the lugs I would assume) match up with the one on the warranty card? - Sorry just re-read your post....

Is there a red dot on the back of the watch across the caseback?

These answers may not deal with all of your concerns, but it may help with a recommendation to overcome them.

Hi the watch is about 8 years old as far as i can make out and there is no red dot on the back and i can see that the back has been off as it has some very small marks around the holes. I new the watch would be out of warranty and i have a good jewler but i am quite annoyed with the marks on the face and hands and the second hand not lining up. I don't have my camera with me but i will try and attatch the original details from the dealer.

It is not NOS (as it was advertised) if it has been opened and played around with.

If the chrono second is not returning correctly and the date is difficult to set you have a faulty watch.

Get on to the seller as the watch was not cheap and ask him what he is going to do about it and preferably ask him to pay for the repairs from your trusted jeweller.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

    Re: Hello from a newbie!

Thanks guys! I have now talked it over with the dealer and he now wants me to send it back to him so he can get it PROPERLY SORTED! I am sorry to see it go back but it has just too many problems for me to be happy with in the long run but i have to admit that it felt great to have on my wrist. Yes it is very heavy and thick but it feels just perfect!
