I had to share my excitement with someone and the Omega WUS crew provided that someone(s). Wow was my first impression. Then, after I gave the watch and bracelet a good scrubbing I was really impressed. What a watch. From the hesalite (which really is warm and the high dome is so unique) to the curves of the case which appear to be the result of an age old master plan executed to perfection to the dial/subdials/hands that fit together seamlessly, this watch is near perfect. My only issue is with the crown. Functionally, I wish it extended further from the case. Aesthetically, I wouldn't change a thing. The Speedy just feels classic/vintage (and I believe I would say that even if I wasn't aware of the history). That said, the bracelet gives it a totally modern feel due to the brushed links w/ a bit of polish. You really get the best of the modern and vintage world with this watch. If you've never taken a look at one I recommend doing so before that inevitable next Omega purchase. I've owned many Omegas, ranging from the 2254, to the PO 2201.50, Speedy Sapphire Sandwich and the Great White, but this one is in a class by itself (a bold statement considering the quality and looks of the others I just mentioned).
So I bought this one a few days ago from a seller on craigslist of all places. I felt good about the seller and we talked quite a few times over the phone so I sent him the $ (I felt bad about essentially stealing this watch from him, what a price). The watch arrived with all paperwork, cards, receipts, appraisal, boxes, etc. The watch is mint and the bracelet's only signs of wear are on the clasp (typical swirlies). This was my first craigslist transaction and it was smooth as could be.
Does anyone know anything about the type of lume on a 1996 Speedy Pro? I'm not exactly sure what I've got here.
Obligatory wrist shots (it's on a nato b/c the bracelet needs a few links removed):
