My crown came off on my PO 8500!!!

I went to wind my 20 day old Omega PO 8500.....and my crown came off!! I was shocked.
Does this happen often??? I can't believe such a high $$$ watch can break so easily. Seriously!?!?
Do I send this back to ACE? Or find a local AD and they can fix it for free??
Any info would be great. I am really upset over this....I babied the watch since I got it so I can't understand how this could happen.

Warranty repair unfortunately not a quick fix but should be covered. You'll need to send it in to Omega likely 6 weeks or more.

    Stuff happens and things break.

Well that can't be fun. Someone posted a while back about his He valve coming off when he went to unscrew it. A marker fell off the dial and was tumbling around under the crystal on another's. I've had a date wheel lock up within first 30 days. Stuff happens unfortunately. Don't let an AD or non-Swatch service center fix it or it may void your warranty. I don't know what country you're in, but go to Omega website and find service centers plus their phone #. Call for instructions on sending it in. Unfortunately, you'll most likely be out the shipping and insurance costs (I use registered mail since tracked and recorded every time someone touches it. FedEx will charge for insurance but won't actually cover it according to their terms.). You could also take it to a local AD to send it off to Swatch, but they might charge you shipping for them to send it in since you didn't buy it there. If you have a boutique near you, I don't think they charge for sending it off and some do repair on site. I know in US, I get an email confirmation that it's been received and a service # that I can use to log in on the service center site and check the status. 6 weeks is about right. And unlike taking your car in for service, they don't offer loaners at Omega.

Oh man! Sorry about the mess. No crowns do not normally come off any watches let alone something pricier like an Omega. I would call Ace and ask what the best way to move forward is.

Yes, first time purchasing an Omega. My pride and joy since I got it.
And yes, I do understand it does happen....but so soon? And under such gentle care? It baffles me.

    Thanks for the info.
I have a PM with Dimer asking what I should do.
I live in Canada...and I do have one local AD in the my city. So if I don't hear from Dimer this week, I'll give my AD a call.
It'll be funny....because upon deciding if I should get this watch, I must have been in my local AD trying on the watch at least 4 times. But went with ACE because of their prices. I'm sure I'll hear it from them about buying outside of the city. haha. Oh well.

Sorry to hear about that... It sucks when something goes bad with such a new and special purchase. Definitely not the norm on any brand, whether hundreds or thousands of dollars. Dimer is no pun intended "Aces"! and will point you in the right direction and take good care of you. Good luck and please let us know what happens.

Your line...."All I talked about for days was this watch. Imagine my surprise and delight when my sister gave me one for my birthday! And I was intending to come here and treat myself to it the very next day!"

Or some variation. I think many of us have been in the same spot.

Contact ACE, they are an authorised dealer. let them take care of it for you by dealing with OMEGA. That is what you Pay AD pices for IMHO.
    cheers
