Need some help buying a Seamaster

Looking for my first Omega I have narrowed it down to a Seamaster Pro. I think I almost understand the different models and what to look for but I don't know the pricerange for a used one (both quartz and auto). What is considered a good price? Furthermore is one model (Bond vs 2254) more sought after then the other? One more thing regarding the 2254 and 2264, which one is auto? thanks

    Hello haakan

The best thing to look at is here on the sales forum at WUS. Do a search on the watches your looking for and deduce from there ballpark prices for these models.

The 2254.50 is certainly more sought after than the present bonds... mainly because it has been discontinued. However, 2254's have been randomly popping up on the sales forum throughout this past summer.

The 2254.50 is automatic and the 2264.50 is quartz.

Congratulations on your present hunt for your 1st Omega Take your time, do your research, and be patient...you'll be sure to score a nice piece! Please use camera when you receive

also..The original discontinued Bond quartz (as seen in GoldenEye) is model 254180.00. Snag one of these if you can find one.

Agree! Its a very good watch. I own one and its my favourite watch right now.

The quartz movement is easier to maintain and costs less to buy and keep running. If you have no particular interest or love for an automatic, think quartz.

A good 2541 will set you back between $900-$1000 with box, papers and the watch for that price should look mint. There is one for sale on the forum at the moment for $675 without box/papers and its got a few scratches and the second hands faded. Not a bad price if you want to go on the cheap side.

Unless you got some sort of 'thing' against pre-owned, forget about buying new. There is not much risk in buying a pre-owned quartz watch, unless you get a fake.

Congratulations on deciding to buy a Seamaster Professional. There are no wrong decisions from here--quartz v. automatic, or black v. blue v. electric blue, midsize v. fullsize--they're all good. Given my choice of the lot, I chose the quartz Bond and I'm very happy with it. It's rugged, reliable, accurate, and a terrific value. It's Omega's entry model, but I've never found a watch I like more at any price (although the 2254, Planet Ocean, Speedmaster, and Submariner all come close for me).

With a little research you should be able to find what the prices usually run. They can change month to month.

    Here is mine.

    Bulova Accutron
    Hamilton "Golden Boy"
    Tissot Ballade
    Casio G Shock GW2500-A1
    Omega Seamaster 212.30.41.20.01.002

Nice looking watches. I have seen a few without pappers. I guess that´s not good but how much of a deal is it?
