    New style Speedy date?

I am sure I saw somewhere that a new Speedmaster date was to be released?
It was a different dial config and I think it had the date at 6 O'clock and had "1957" in red on the dial as per the BA Co Axial.
I also remember seeing pics but cannot for the life of me find them now!!!

Does anyone else recall this and can you point me to the link/thread etc?

    Cheers.

    Mac.

Wow! I hope Omega makes it a standard edition in the US!

And based on the TZ article, the case may be the same one used in the current Speedy Date--40mm! Might have to add this to my list!

Pretty sharp. So is the recessed pusher @ 9:30/10 for the date you think? Also, interesting bracelet link design/shape.

Yes, it is. I just saw both black and white models in the Omega store in Ginza. The saleslady explained the date-pusher to me. Both models have a solid caseback (ie: non-moon, non saphire), and there's also an engraving of the actual limited edition number of the watch, out of 2009 for each type. Looked just as good in the flesh as in the photos above.

    Price tag: 378,000 yen ( around US$4,100 )

Future speedy Anakins and Darths maybe?

    Re: New style Speedy date?

I was looking at a Co-Axial Speedy date today, and the salesman claimed that it was not suitable to be worn whilst swimming, since it didn't have a screw down crown. When I ointed out that it was 100m WR, he told me that if I wore it for swimming, any leaks would not be covered by the warranty.

Now to, this sounds like BS - if you can wear a 50m Moonwatch for swimming you should certainly be able to wear a 100m WR watch.

And my Fortis B-42 chrono with 200m WR has a non screw down crown, so I don't see that the crown design has anything to do with it....

    Does this all make sense?

You have to take what many (not all) watch/jewelry sales people say with a grain of salt.

Personally I would feel comfortable swimming with the co-ax version Speedy in a pool. Maybe not the Ocean body surfing with big waves hitting it. I'm sure it would be OK, but $3000 on my wrist I would rather throw on my 200M Seiko diver. But that's just me.

As for covered under warranty....I would think if you took it swimming and that's all you did, and the watch leaked, that it would be covered. Just my semi-educated guess.
