ONE watch: Aqua Terra or Planet Ocean

Hi all,

I plan to get my 1st watch and I'm debating between the Omega Aqua Terra vs. Planet Ocean. This will be my only watch for some years (I'm turning 24) and most likely everyday-wear. I prefer to get the newer 8500 movement on 42mm~ either way. I work in a business casual environment (shirt no ties) but dresses casual on weekends (shorts and Ts in summer). I'm leaning towards AT since I think it's more versatile/classy and will grow with me as I get older. But PO is such a classic and popular watch and a great candidate too for a 1st/one watch. I've done searches but found few comparing between the two as a ONE-watch choice. Would love to hear your opinions. Thanks!

Aqua Terra is great to have and I love. However, I love the Planet Ocean a little more. I understand what you are saying about the versatility of the AT but the 42 regular colored number is also versatile.

In the end it all comes down to if you like the diver look of the PO or the dressy look of the AT.

You can't go wrong with either.

Let us know what you choose.

Planet Ocea, unless you have a small wrist or just like the overall look of the AT. You can swim with the AT and dive well enough, but do you want that 150m WR or that 600m ? :D

I think PO will suit you better since your regular attire is more business casual/casual than formal/semi-formal. PO will be up to the task of being an occasional dressy watch as well. However, new AT is a lovely watch and can't go wrong with that one either.

In general, I'd recommend the AT over the PO if you only want one watch. However, considering you're 24, I'd go for the PO.

Tough one. I think for your age the PO would work better. I love the AT, but IMO it looks a little too much like a watch for an older demographic. You really need to try both on to make an informed decision. I did and found the 42mm PO a little to tall for my liking and the AT to boring ( for lack of better description). In the end I held off on both and will probably get a speedmaster pro instead.

Now if Omega makes a version of the AT with numerals (maybe borrowed from the PO) on the dial, a la the discontinued Trainmaster, that would be a great sport watch!

This is purely a matter of personal taste, so your's is the only vote that really counts. But I'd go with the PO [everyone needs a dive watch :) ]. It plays the role of a sports watch well and is dressy enough for most ot life's events, especially for you, since you don't even wear ties. OTH, the new AT's do not appear entirely comfortable being either a sports watch or a dress watch -- the old AT's were more classic looking.
