Plan-Pro mod + my experience with SMP bezel extraction

So I been wanting to mod my 2255 for a while either just by brushing its shiny bezel or getting a Plan-Pro mod. I don't see myself sticking to a particular modded version so while hunting for a PO 2500 bezel I picked up more a blue bond bezel a orange PO 2500 bezel might soon be mine.

Parts aside, modding a watch in addition needs one to have access to a good watch maker who can listen and execute your idea. But where I live it's either expensive or perhaps many don't have the tools nor the experience to pop the SMP bezel. Which is the main focal point of my new found craze.

Nevertheless the PO bezel arrived thanks to a good friend who helped me secure it. In the meantime I asked Bry to send me one of his engineered Bezel tools so I could try my hand at it. While the tool is still in transit I got impatient and decided something had to to be done this Sunday morning . And here is the result...

While wondering what I could use to pop that bezel off the stock 2255 I happen to see my shoe horn and tot to myself if this could do it. The watch was mounted on a black ridged rubber strap so I pushed the hard plastic shoe horn between the bezel and rubber strap below the 6 marker. The horn had just enough space to wedge itself between the bezel and rubber strap for me to push into. I tried pushing it up against the bezel and all the while leveraging against the rubber strap. A few attempts later the bezel just popped out with a hollow click. This seems way easier than I ever thought it would be but the damn shoe horn worked....

    Just after my successful attempt

    The entry point

    Ready for a clean up

The outcome is rather nice and sharp. Those sword hands are really cool. Perhaps a 2254 black dial or better still the 2230 non AC dial is the best. But this will do until find a non ac dial.

Next up, once I figure how to get the PO bezel off,

Appreciate your adventurism, but those combos look awfully off to me... nice to see how it's done though.

To each his own, I guess.

The gap between crystal and bezel was getting wider by the day so the mod had to be recalled until a PO crystal could be sourced. Until then the 2255 has been installed with a bond bezel.

I feel the scallop bezel is the most appropriate for the SMP case without a doubt. The sword hands and larger markers of this dial are pretty cool in my opinion. The 2255 dial has this very nice "Shing modern PO"ish look.

Not every SMP bezel will pop out as easy as my first successful attempt. This one went in with huge snap but now it wouldn't come out no matter what I tried. Looks like this one will need the original omega bezel tool.

Very cool and I dig the combo. This case size is perfection, in my opinion, but I would prefer a different bezel like you did. Keep us updated!

For now I seem to like the current combo while I try to get myself a decent 2230.50 and a PO crystal for create the perfect plan-pro.

And it looks cool on a bracelet too. I never wear bracelets but this one turned out really well..
