    Planet Ocean New or Old?

Has anyone owned both the new version of the Planet Ocean and the old? I am going to purchase one of these this weekend. I would like it if someone could tell me if the new version is worth the extra $1400.

it's definitely worth the extra money, although i only have the old one still because the new one is too thick for me.

I have owned the older 42mm PO in the past, it's a very good watch, but I would go for the new 8500, I won't be flipping this for a while.

I have had both and still have the PO 2500. The PO 8500 is definitely worth the price. I personally sold it because of the thickness and grey bezel. On top of that, the bezel had a yellowish hue to it which made it even more unattractive. I really have no idea why Omega picked grey for the color. It's just dull, boring and plain unattractive. The main reason I went back to the PO 2500d was the elegance, classiness and sleekness of the watch which I felt was lacking in the PO 8500. Now if you like the look and thickness of the PO 8500 it's definitely worth it but for me it came down to looks. A better way to phrase the title of the thread would be new vs original Planet Ocean :).

I would never buy the old model, way to many issues unless you know your getting a 2500d. The new PO's are flat out stunning and worth every penny over the old. Heck, piece of mind knowing my watch wont just stop one day is worth some extra $$$.

Oh please the 2500c is a perfectly capable movement the 8500 is superior but lets not act like the 2500c is garbage.

Having just looked at the new models at lunch it's totally subjective I do not like the look of the new POs nearly as much as the first gen. My opinion only!

In terms of looks (not reliability), the 2500 is more elegant than sporty; the 8500 the reverse.
I need to see beauty somewhere when I can’t see it elsewhere.

I had both, PO 8500 in 42 mm and also the PO 2500 in 45mm and the PO-LM.
The PO 8500 is a far superior watch cf to the 2500. Unfortunately i sold it a few months back. Still have the PO 2500 XL and PO-LM
Out all 3, My favorite was the PO 8500, then the PO 2500 and lastly PO-LM

Everyone has different tastes, my wife and I love the grey bezel and bought it over the old one because of it. We think it makes the watch look more elegant and classy.

Since it was your favorite, why did you sell it?
