Several have posted the actual measurements on this forum. You might try searching for those posts.
All I know is that after owning three watches with 8500 movements, the case thickness required by the movement is a deal killer for me. My wrist diameter is 7 1/2 inches but round and the thick cases tend to slide from side to side. I could never get a comfortable fit.
Comparing the 2500 and 8500 on my wrist, I much prefer the look and feel of the 2500 model.
My 2¢.
If I recall properly, the 42mm version is 15.7mm thick and the 45.5mm version is 16.5mm thick. I have documentation at home, I'll double check later.
Despite the thickness, the 42mm PO has been one of my most comfortable watches ever, even with my 6 1/4 in wrist. It's the watch I've worn the most consecutive days out of my collection.

I do not find the thickness an issue either, it is a sports watch after all and has a real presence as it should! The Rolex Deep Sea looks a lot thicker to me but I do not have the facts on that, (I wonder if Deep Sea owners are worried about the thickness?) never had an issue with sliding around my wrist, if someone has I guess that would be a strap fitting issue not the watch, just my opinion.
The PO 8500 for me is too thick. The PO 2500 is as far as I would go. The weight of a watch especially on a bracelet is more of an issue for me.
Too thick. Won't own any 8500 movement watches because of it.
the thicker the better
The 42 PO is growing on me, but i'm worried about its thickness.
