    Question: Titanium PO 8500, 42mm?

Does anyone have any leads on whether Omega will release a 42mm version of the titanium PO 8500?

For those that own a titanium piece, how does it hold up?

I don't own the titanium version but have handled it many times at the stores. It is VERY light. In fact it was too light for my taste. I prefer the heft of my regular 8500.

Not sure if omega will be releasing a 42 version. In a few years... Maybe.

Not sure if "they'll ever" introduce one in 42mm, but right now they don't and I suspect that it would be after Basel next year if any introductions were coming down the pipeline. I have a 45.5mm Blue Ti (have posted lots of pics here on WUS) and it DOES in fact hold up well. Mine is worn a couple of days a week for about 6 months, and it still looks near new. The polished parts looks brand new, with no swirlies that I can detect, but then again, I have not grabbed a loop and inspected it. Very, very minor marks (scratches, barely noticeable) on the clasp from desk diving, but then again, if someone said "describe your watches condition" I'd say at least 98%. So, yes, the Ti does hold up well, but I have not beat the watch or taken it diving yet.

    Cheers,

    Joe

The reason I'm asking is that I'd love to have a watch that would last... Something to pass onto further generations when I'm long gone. I love the look of the Ti and it's advertised durability, but at 45.5mm, it's way too big for my 6.5" wrist, IMO.

I hope you guys are right regarding the timeline. Preferably next Basel.

Yeah, I too feel the Ti watch is too light, NOT in a good way. It even gives the illusion of being plastic sometimes.

I too prefer my watch to feel "present" on my wrist. I have never understood the use of titanium in watches. The heft of a nice diver shouldn't be underestimated. When people hold my PO the first thing that they notice is the weight and then say a comment that a nice weight is the sign of quality.

I think omega used titanium and stuck to the 45.5mm to make a difference between that and the PO LM. Else the owners of the PO LM may feel they don't have an exclusive watch if the TiPO was available in 42mm.
