Anybody who has ever worked for any government will tell you it would be more difficult to fake the moon landings than actually do it for real.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but these guys sum it up nicely.

Charlie Duke - "We went to the Moon 9 times...Why did we fake it 9 times?"

I've said this here often enough. The whole moon landing/NASA association is very strong with this watch, but it was around for eight years or so before it got to Houston.
For me, it's a classic example of 1960s chronograph design.
    - Ann-Margret/Julie Christie (pick one) behind the wheel of an E-Type Jag.
    - a gas pipeline in the Sahara.
    - a battered Zippo lighter sitting on a soft-pack of unfiltered Camel cigarettes, next to a Scotch on The Rocks.

The Speedmaster Professional looks perfectly at home in any of those scenarios.

Don't believe in the moon landing? That's cool. I'd be more worried about misspelling 'Fleming' and 'Kubrick'.

*Yeah, yeah, I get the silly irony of me questioning the topic and yet, responding to it. Life just doesn't make sense sometimes.

The Speedmaster Moonwatch looks sweet! I really dig the moon as well.

    I won't buy a Tudor because I don't believe Lady Gaga exists.

Re: The reason why I won't buy a Speedmaster...

I own a Speedy (mainly because of the Space/Moon connection) but even I question it sometimes. There's a lot of irregularities out there surrounding it all and sometimes these questions don't bring solid answers but rather cause even more unanswered questions about it all.

Assuming it was all legit, the reason why it worked and hasn't been replicated was because of the pressure behind it all. The fate of a possible nuclear war (?) rested on America showing they had conquered space and were the technically advanced country and stuff. They threw something like $6 billion dollars at building and launching the Saturn 5 moon rocket and that was in 60's money. There's never been anything else created with that kind of financial backing, they really had to go all out and make sure this happened and succeeded.

When you look at all the little details it doesn't always make sense, I agree. Hundreds of thousands of people didn't need to be convinced to lie about it either. They would have done their job and believed they really were sending men to the moon, at most only maybe a handful of the highest up people at NASA would have really known - possibly the president didn't even know the full truth.

They did after all have such measures as a massive slide down the inside of the rocket leading to an underground nuclear proof escape bunker so everyone could bail out practically minutes before it even launched.

IF the moonlanding was faked, and I’m not saying it was by any means, I actually think I would like the space program connection to the Speedmaster even better. The irony would make me laugh for sure.
