For peeps who think the moon landings were fake: keep in mind that it must have been a LOT more work with a LOT more hassle, organizing the event, keeping things hushed up for all those years, etc, than to JUST PUT A COUPLE OF BLOKES ON THE MOON ALREADY!!!
I mean a chappie can't even receive some oral gratification from a nice young lady in the white house without the whole world finding out .....

And the Speedmaster is a great piece of kit, regardless of the moon landings. Like a previous caller mentioned, a functional relic from the 60s with all the associated charisma. It goes quite well with my 1966 Alfa Romeo.

And if you can at least bring yourself to believe the NASA torture test, a supreme tool watch ....

I do however think that the Speedy is s superb watch, was chosen by NASA to go to space and did do just that (many times), and I'd buy one....it's just the walking on the moon bit.

But maybe it's the limits of my understanding as it seems just an amazing thing for us to have done back in the sixties...maybe I need to stop watching those Channel 5 'documentaries'.
The Cold War to 'beat the Soviets' is the only reason we went to the moon, there is nothing of the sort these days to create the same urgency. NASA was given a blank check to get the job done. You think today any US gov't civilian agency would be given a blank check?

If you ever get a chance, go to the Kennedy Space Center and take the special (extra cost) tour of the old launch sites, I did in 2009. I was impressed that they got a man in space with such primitive technology; I always knew the tech they used was primitive but didn't fully appreciate it until I saw it with my own eyes. As an engineer I was just floored and borderline worshipful of what those guys did with today's equivalent of, as Mr. Spock would say it, "stone knives and bear skins".

Today we can put a man on the moon but there is zero, I mean zero will to do it. There is no will to spend that kind of $$.

As for anyone doubting not going to the moon, all I have to say is this:

I laugh at the conspiracy theorists, but I am equally flabbergasted by the number of folks who own a Speedmaster but are yet unsure about the moon landings.

WTF?? Have you actually been to any of the launch sites?? I have. No such "underground bunker".
