I just bought a really nice Taikonaut strap with speed pins, those integrated spring-bars that have the small, convenient lever for easy strap installation and removal. These cannot be removed, so I cannot use my OEM spring bars.
While I love the convenience of the speed pins, the diameter of the actual pin heads (correct term?) are less than the OEM spring-bars'. Therefore, when installed, the speed pins have a little bit of room to move around inside the lug holes.
My question is: Will this damage the lug holes, or somehow disfigure them, over time? Or do you think the lug holes are more resistant to damage than that? I've always wondered how well lug holes have held up on vintage watches that have seen twenty, thirty, forty years of use....
Any insight greatly appreciated! I really don't want to damage my beloved Planet Ocean.![]()

As long as they are 1.8 mm, and high quality steel, the brand isn't important. Double flange are easier to work with, as well. At the price quoted, I may order some of those.
