A thanks, and my first Omega!

    To the Omega forumites:

For about the last year and change I have stalked this board and several others. Although I had never owned an Omega watch, I always found myself coming back here. This is such a nice community! I am glad that I can finally say that I am a part of it!

So without further ado (and excuse the terrible cell phone pic, I can't find the charger for my camera ):

Of course, I just had to go with the Speedy Pro with the Hesalite. There is just something about that domed Hesalite crystal that you have to smile at! Now, for something of a diatribe. I had been between the Speedy Pro, Rolex Explorer, and Rolex Submariner no-date for the last few months (with a few other watches in there). I wanted something that I could use as a daily wearer, as I have my JLC MC for fancier occasions. I really just wanted something that I was not afraid to rough up, and worry about. Well, I tossed the no-date sub out first. The maxi-lugs just didn't work for me, and I felt like I was compromising too much. The Explorer... well, I definitely bonded with the new Explorer. But I realized that there were too many negatives... and that those negatives just outweighed the positives. The shiny bezel, the small hands, the "chunky" feel of the watch--there were too many things I felt I was compromising on. Plus, the whole tool-flash look just felt wrong to me. So that left me with the Speedy. And although it was not exactly love at first sight, it is almost something more than that! It feels more like a companion, something that I will be happy wearing on my wrist every day. It may lack some sex appeal, but it makes up for it by being beautifully proportioned, and darn near perfectly designed. And it is a great tool watch!

So thank you guys for really helping me on my journey! One year ago, I never would have bought this watch. But damn does it ever grow on you!
