Rolling eyes what tools will i need to open up my watch?

    Hi,
I have speedmaster date thats nearly a year old. I have had this itch.. to open up the watch and just have a look inside.. to see the movement up close.. what tools will i need? In part, i want to open the watch up because when i got it it had no red dot... part of me wants to check if everythings in order..
Not that im a watch expert by any stretch of the imagination.. :)

    Thanks for the help!

Seems like a bad idea to me. If the watch is keeping good time, then everything is in order. If you want to see what it looks like inside, search the web or YouTube. I expect that there are plenty of videos out there.

It's your watch, so open it up if you like, but I would never do that to mine.

Agreed, bad idea unless you are a watchmaker that knows what they are doing. If it is a year old, you can contact the Omega team through their website and they can tell you exactly when it was made. I think there is a company that makes replacement clear backs that you can have swapped, which might be an option you could look into.

If you must ask how to open the watch I doubt you have the knowledge to "check if everythings in order"...

that's why there's no DIY beginner's guide to heart surgery...if you have to ask, you ain't ready for it.

you need a case opener if you have a steady hand, omega might have an exact case pattern key for your case number, which makes it a little bit more fool-proof(slippage, etc)

They are easy to open though you would want the correct tool for it. (Possibly not the ones shown earlier)
Then you'll need to remove the Ant-Magnetic Shield to see the movement (Plenty of pictures out there to save you the hassle).
Then you have to put it back together and hope & pray you've done it correctly.

Then you'll be scared of taking it out in the rain as there's every possibility a seal will have become damaged.

I agree with most on here that it's probably best left alone or with an expert.

Omega: 3570.50 Speedy Pro, 2225.80. Seamaster Chronograph, Seamaster Cal 491 (1955), f300 Constellation
Others: Versace Chronograph with a FM7000 movement, Zenith Defy El Primero Cal 400, Hamilton Ventura (Men In Black)
Along with several assorted Russian & Chinese things.
