Interesting, but why in the world would Seiko but a 5 on the reverse side of the second hand. I hate to say this reminds me of Invicta.

Some of these are truly spectacular except for the "5" on the second hand. Genuinely evolved designs made cheesy with that one little detail ...

This could be a thread all on its own:

Gotta say a 5 or quartz on a dial puts me right off. Cheers.

Recently picked up the SRP431 (SS) and must say that the "5" on the seconds hand doesn't bother me in the least as it soars over the dial's embossed globe. In fact I rather enjoy the vintage touches built into the "worldtime" airman/pilot theme... and yes, it's all functionally precise.

It's simply a very well designed and robustly executed timepiece. To each their own.

a few pics of mine on a chocolate leather strap.

    Cheers all!

EDIT: .. Just a quick note regarding it's mechanical accuracy for the first week.

After owning this piece for a brief time, I suspect this short-run edition had undergone some adjustments before leaving the factory. Mine's consistently running an average of +2 seconds daily out of the box. I'm rather impressed (surprised) overall with build quality and value.

For pretty much all of my day-to-day outdoor sport/leisure needs (and more to grow into), this really is everything I could want. Quirky, perhaps in terms of the seconds hand, but it's not Milgauss quirky ;) -Quirky or not, it is a seriously executed timepiece. Even by comparison to some of my higher end pieces. Well done Seiko.

If you can still find one new with box and papers... I recommend getting one. You will not be disappointed.
