Bourne's Seiko

Thought this might be a fun thread. In the original Bourne Identity book, Jason Bourne trades in a Girard Perregaux for some cash and a Seiko chronograph. Specifics on that watch are not given in the book, except that it is noted that Bourne made the trade because "Everything had a value in relationship to its practicality; the chronograph was shockproof."

So, let the wild speculation begin: what Seiko chrono did Bourne get? Or, what Seiko chrono should he have gotten?

I think the book dates from 1980 so I reckon he picked up a 6139,like maybe the Pogue.Any of those mid-late 70's Seikos would stand up to his "busy" lifestyle & keep going right through to today.

Nice for Seiko to get a nod like that in such a famous novel.

Could be 613x (6138, 6139) or 701x (7016, 7018). The 613x is more popular and widely available so I think it is most probably a 6138 or 6139.
