Citizen Diver NY0040-50E or Seiko SKX007K2?

    Hello all.
My name's Riccardo, from Italy. I'm new to the forum, so I hope I'm posting this message to the right place.

Anyway, I'm about to buy a new watch and I'm searching for the following features:
    - water resistant, enough to swim and do some minor free diving (3-4 mt.)
    - classic diver look, time and date only
    - automatic movement
    - iron bracelet, with possibility to exchange it with rubber strap
    - renowned quality brand
    - budget under 250-300$

After some research I restricted my choices to Citizen Promaster Diver NY0040-50E and Seiko SKX007K2. Now my personal evaluation is that the two timepieces are very similar. But I'm not an expert. Therefore I'm asking to the forum's members if there are any important reasons why I should prefer Citizen or Seiko.
    Thanks for your help.
    Riccardo

    Ciao Ricardo
Both excellent "budget" divers - Seiko is a little smaller (41mm vs 43 of the Citizen)
I'd prefer the Citizen for the Screw-down crown placed at 8 o'clock!!!

actually the citizen is a tad smaller and less high, but really not much.
they've probably been compared a dozend times. i own both and like both the same. the seiko feels a little bigger and heavier (some might think more rugged), has better aftermarket options such as bracelets and is less blingy. the citizen wears more comfortable, often is said to run more precise (mine is) and hand-winds. makers are bordered with chrome and the dial reflects a lot. lume is excellent on both.
to me they're on eye level and it boils down to what you prefer.

Welcome to the forum Riccardo! :)

If accuracy is your concern, Citizen NY0040 hands down! Not to say it has much better lume and chrome-framed indices.

However I like the looks of the 007 more and the fact that it wears bigger, it is my preference. I own both and wears the Seiko much more.
