    Citizen NY2300-09E vs. NY0040-09E

Are there substantial differences in these two watches, other than cosmetic? In other words, does one have a superior movement or something else that makes it a higher quality watch? They look similar, but I saw a thread on another forum that made it sound like the 0040 was a superior watch in terms of durability.

    First, the NY2300-09E...

    Now, the NY0040-09E

the ny400 is not exactly big either. definitely smaller than a SKX007. the destro style crown does make it very comfortable to wear. do consider getting it on a bracelet )IMHO, the strap does it no favors).

The NY0040-09E is definitely thicker. I own both before.

Isn't the 0040 a ISO diver while the 2300 is not? The Divers on the dial suggests this.

The case back on the 2300 is plain jane.

Hmmm. Both of these are smaller than an SKX007? And a 007 is smaller than an Orange Monster, right?

Maybe I will just save up for a blue Sumo. (I love the orange Sumo, but it seems silly to have 2 of my 3 new Seikos be orange).

the skx007 it's smaller than the Monster
the ny0040 it's large like the monster but thinner
the ny2300 it's less large than the ny0040 but thick as the ny0040

    yes slightly but noticeably smaller.

not exactly. The 007 and the monster are about the same diameter. the 007 is actually marginally bigger in some diameter measures. The Monster is considerably thicker and has a bezel guard that adds t it's visual bulk. It's bracelet is also considerably heavier than any thing that comes with the 007.

this is incorrect. the ny0040 has a slightly smaller diameter than both the monster and the 007. I agree that it is thinner. at best it is as thick as an 007.

    Re: Citizen NY2300-09E vs. NY0040-09E

I once owed the NY0040 (I have never owned the NY2300) but here are just a few observations....

I like the larger lum indices and hands of the 2300.
I also like the lum at the tip of the seconds hand on the 2300 instead of at the rear of the seconds hand on the 0040.
And I like the white day/date dial of the 2300 much more than the black day/date dial of the 0040 (which was never easy to read for my 42 year old eyes).
