I have several watch, but everytime i go to a field trip, i always choose my EHC GMT from BALL.
Now i have a shogun, but i feel that the shogun is not durable enough.
can you guys recommend one for me? a durable and tough seiko under $1k to complement my GMT from BALL.
Thanks for the input.
+1. I have & have had a lot of various Seiko's of all stripes and the BFK is definitely the bruiser I would put up against anything else ~ not only among Seiko's but vs. all other brands. Against the eco-zilla it would be a 15 round split decision. Until then, G-shock after G-shock would have to be carried out of the ring on a stretcher after the second round.
I own a Sumo which I suspect is about as adorable as a Shogun. I've dinged it a few times to the point where it requires regulation. That being said, it's survived some pretty hard knocks.
If you're looking for an automatic I would suggest one of the SNZG field watches. Not that they are any more durable, but, they are cheap enough that replacing one after a few years isn't an issue.
Durable and tough Seiko under 1K? Basically Seiko diver should do, which definitely includes one made of titanium and sapphire.
I have a Turtle that has banged door frames, the doors themselves and tables with no noticeable scratch on the watch. I can't say the same about the things in the list of stuff that it's banged which unfortunately includes the car I drive. Even after all that, accuracy's still the same since it got out of the box. Of course, YMMV.
A Seiko that's specifically made to be tougher and more durable and costs right below 1K USD? A 300m Tuna.
i had the same initial reaction to the shogun. i really wanted to like it, but when i put it on, the watch felt a bit too light. at some point i plan to try it again with a nato strap.
there are a good number of seikos that folks consider durable. shrouded tunas, monsters, and skx line all have the reputation, with plenty of testimonials to support. bfk is durable in my experience. and, they all have sufficient heft to them that they feel durable on the wrist. let us know what you decide to get.
The toughest Seiko watch I know of is a Tuna. Pretty much indestructible watch. But the new Tunas will give your Ball a run for its money in the Lume department.
Nearly any SEIKO, Citizen, or Casio G-Shock. Hundreds and hundreds of models to choose from.
