First Post: help, stem/crown removed, now watch does not work!

Hello All. This is my first post. Today I opened and old Seiko kinetic 5m43 watch that I have because the power reserve button was sticking. Well, I removed the crown/stem per instructions around the web, then took out the movement, fixed the button and when putting everything back together, the watch does not work at all. It stayed at the same hour and the hands do not move. What could it be? Is there anything else that needs to be done when putting it back together? I was very careful when doing this (I got a watchmaker toolkit, which makes it a breeze to deal with such tiny parts). I even took back out, re-checked everything and put it back together, still does not work. Can anyone help me out? Any ideas? Thanks!

When you removed the stem; the clutch wheel or the switch lever may have fallen out of place. Since the watch doesn't run; it's likely the switch elver that has jumped out of position. It usually rides in a groove on the stem.

Oh, that's some serious disassembly there, maybe time to find someone with more expertise to fix it for me...I'm afraid to attempt this and messing it up much more than it is... Thanks for the info!

Woohoo! Guess what? I got the watch working again! While checking repair prices, I found that they cost more than the watch itself, so i took the plunge and tried to do it myself. Let me tell you, it is very complicated the first time, so many little gears and pieces that spring out once you take out the various covers and plates! I stayed up all night studying the service diagram, since it is quite blurry to determine what goes in first and what goes on top of what. If you don't have a picture of how things were before disassembly, it is hard to put it back together. I took pictures along the way when putting it back together, will post them later so that others who might think doing the same have a guide as to how things should look at various stages of assembly. For now, my watch is working, although it started with the power reserve push button sticking, then the whole watch not working, now back to a working watch, but the push button does work at all, but at least it doesn't stick... I'm happy enough to have it running... Cheers!

It sure does, specially after so much playing around with tiny bits and pieces...since the push button does not work, I guess something is not making good contact in there or is not fully in place, but right now its no big deal, maybe later in the week I'll try to get it going again, but for now, enough of dealing with microscopic parts...
