This is a really tough one. That is one of the coolest looking GSes out there. But for me, I'd take the Ananta SD Chronograph. I just like all the complications and I feel it's a better value. Also, I think it looks really cool. I'd definitely take the GS Chronograph over the Ananta model, but as you point out, it's like twice as expensive. You can't go wrong here, but for me, I'd just get the Ananta. But then, I'm an Ananta owner, so maybe I'm biased.
I've tried on both the Ananta and the GS. I actually prefer the white dial of the Ananta and the red GMT hand is very striking on white - much more so on the GMT non-chronograph version. I came so close to picking the Ananta but as mentioned, I did a real hands-on on both.
At the end of the day, Ananta's size worked against it. Yes lug-to-lug it could sit "just nice" on my wrist, but it looked like I was "trying too hard".
The best way to go is to always try out the actual thing yourself. I chose the GS at the end.
GS
definitely
been handling most GS and Ananta
doesnt even come close
GS first but the Ananta close 2nd.
Ideal situtation - BOTH!!!!

Well I chose the ananta because of the chrono movement. Love the watch! Had it for a couple days and couldn't get it sized right due to the lack of half links. :( anyway ... have the gs on its way. Has half links... when spending this much money I want to make sure the fit is perfect! I will let ya know!

Quality on Ananta is not that great. My SRQ005 broke after 2 days. Not a SD, I realize, but still...very poor showing by Seiko.
That's the only Ananta that has ever broken. I don't think that's enough to show the entire line, which has many different calibres, none of which are produced exclusively for Ananta, but instead have been made for a number of years already, many of which also grace Grand Seikos, have universal bad quality.
Can you elaborate on what broke?
