Love the classic look of the SKX, but wouldn't be opposed to trying a new and improved version. Like that case better, since to me the Turd(les) look like a SKX that an elephant pancaked anyway.

I have daydreamed many times over the 15 years I've owned an SKX about what a true successor would be like, or at least an upgraded version. I knew after trying to replace it twice though with one step up divers that the flaws and shortcomings don't really matter though; it is perfect for what it is, which is rare.

To each his own. I personally don't have much interest in anything that doesn't have at least a date complication. There are times when there's no semester happening and I'm not doing any research or consulting gigs where I genuinely don't know the date.

Of course, I could glance at my phone, but, what's the fun in that?

The SKX is just so beautiful in its simplicity.

While I wouldn't mind if Seiko did introduce an upgraded SKX with a 4R36 or 6R15 movement, I really hope they don't kill off the base model. Right now it's everybody's go to recommendation for a first dive watch or even first automatic watch. If you want something a bit nicer there's the Turtle, Sumo, or even MM300. I do think the prices are a bit inflated right now, I hope they drop back down to the $170 range to compete with Orient's excellent options here.
They wouldn't bite the hand that feeds them since it is one of their iconic models. I can envisage however a limited edition pro version being a good route to explore for them and I'm sure it would be a great investment given the popularity of the model .

The skx007 is near perfect, if I had one i would get a classic black ceramic insert from dlw and a flat profile sapphire (same shape as original crystal) and a super oyster. Someone posted a similar mod on the mod thread and it looked perfect. Perhaps change the second hand to look similar to an skx013

Still waiting for the PADI SKX. Actually someone on here did a mod where they replaced the SKX 009 dial with one from a PADI turtle and IMHO it looked better than the turtle.
